Vancouver Neighbourhood Profile: Little Mountain-Riley Park (aka. Main Street)
Let’s talk about one of my favourite areas: Little Mountain – Riley Park neighbourhood. I’m slightly bias as my family and I built our home near Nat Bailey Stadium a few years ago (we have since moved), but we had our first child in that home, and he was able to partake in the many activities that area has to offer. It is a GREAT family neighbourhood, lots for young children to do and parents to keep busy with Hilcrest nearby and lots of top rated restaurants and shopping only minutes from your door step.
What we love about Little Mountain – Riley Park:
Like stated above there is no shortage of things to do in this neighbourhood. Just steps from your door you will be on the trendy Main Street where you can grocery shop at Nesters, Luke’s General Store, Welk’s, and the local Farmer’s Market at Nat Bailey Stadium every Saturday. Take a stroll down Main Street and you’ll find vintage shops, clothing stores, gift shops, and some unbelievable restaurants that will make you want take out every night.
Where to Eat in Little Mountain – Riley Park:
Some of the best restaurants to eat in or take out: The Acorn, Rocky Mountain Flatbread, Lucky Donuts, Parallel 49, El Caminos, East is East, The Fish Counter, and the list goes on for this lively neighbourhood.
What to do in Little Mountain – Riley Park:
There is so much happening on and around Main Street. Attend the Vancouver Farmer’s Market on Saturdays from 10am-2pm weekly at Nat Bailey Stadium, Attend Art Gallery events, Arrive early for the Shameful Tiki Room for a taste of the tropics, Vintage Shopping – there are so many shops that are jam packed full of vintage finds to keep you occupied for hours, and of course there are trendy little boutiques to find gifts or outfits.
Real Estate in Little Mountain – Riley Park:
I wont sugar coat it, its gained its popularity and for that the prices have soared. It’s now a hot destination to call home for young families and singles wanting to be close to the city but far enough away from the downtown hustle and bustle. With Hilcrest and Little Mountain Community centres within walking distance from anywhere in Little Mountain it has drawn a crowd of families with young kids. The activities and classes these community centres offer are highly sought after some with long wait lists. The neighbourhood is friendly, but it does still have it’s quirks and that’s what makes this area so interesting. Many of the homes have been renovated and include an unauthorized or legal suite in the basement. Detached homes tend to go for $1,500,000 to $2,200,000 and Attached homes are in the ball park of $425,000 – $1,100,000.
